2022 Energy Analysis
Examining my favorite feng shui energetic charts for the Lunar New Year
Year of the Yang Water Tiger
The chi of 2022 starts in February, and this year is looking quite different from the two previous years. In 2020, the Metal Rat was about survival. The Metal Ox of 2021 concerned anchoring and finding grounding so we could move forward within a new reality. In 2022, the Water Tiger is here to help us make big changes.
The year of the Water Tiger ushers in a period of adventure, wisdom, communication, enthusiasm, risk, and courage. This is a very yang time, which indicates a highly energetic year as the world opens up (again). In Eastern culture, the Tiger symbolizes power, passion, and daring. Mental abilities are elevated, but procrastination of important tasks can be a problem. Water Tigers are less temperamental than other Tigers because long-term endeavors take precedence over impulsive action. Yang Water pushes forward relentlessly and is a fearsome force to be reckoned with. This is a year for self-motivation and manifesting your desires.
Four Pillars Chart of 2022
There are strong Water and Wood elements all over the Four Pillars chart of the year, but a complete lack of Metal. This imbalance symbolizes a time of great power, yet weakened rewards which could be detrimental to progress as well as self-esteem. Make sure to give yourself the boosts that you need so that you can step into the year and harness the great strength that is available. The lack of Metal can lead to slips in concentration, an income slowdown, and below-average innovation. Add Metal into your life with metal jewelry, wearing white, and incorporate the Metal Element into your home decor to bring a bit more balance, to the available elements of the year. Surround yourself and clothe your body in items of beauty for support. Stay focused, keep your head up, and great progress is available.
Flying Star Chart of 2022
The luck of this year seems high but with all of the activity make sure to take care of yourself to keep your body as healthy as possible as illness can result from being overstimulated. When reading the Flying Star Chart for the year, take special notice of the direction that your home is facing, the direction that your front door is facing, and also the location of your bedroom, as those are especially activated.
Prosperity and Wealth Stars are showing up in the NE (8) for current wealth and S (9) for future prosperity. Feed the Fire and Earth elements of these areas by adding Fire Element. If your building or front door faces one of these directions, you have the ability to receive great wealth this year. Keep these areas tidy, welcoming, and well-lit.
Quarrelsome Star (3) in the E brings conflict energy. Limit noise in this area, and make sure that doors and furniture are not crashing into each other with fighting energy. Take the time to incorporate sweet gestures to either yourself or other household members. Making sweet tea for each other is a Lunar New Year tradition that I find particularly endearing, and a helpful way to start the year with love.
The White Star (6) in NW indicates strong luck, especially related to money, authority, and power. Enhance this area with Metal and Earth.
The Victory Star (1) in the N can bring winning luck and new opportunities. Enhance this sector of your home and office with Water.
The Creativity Star (4) in SE also signifies romance as well as scholastic luck. Enhance these areas with Wood and Water to feed Wood.
The 5 Yellow Star flys to the center which can bring all kinds of bad luck, and this, unfortunately, affects all homes this year. Keep this area quiet and postpone major renovations in this area. Add Metal Element to break up and cure the heavy Earth energy.
The Illness Star (2) flies into the SW, which will especially afflict Sheep and Monkey people. Use Metal to drain Earth and take extra care of yourself this year. Make sure to get enough rest to counter the yang energy of the Tiger year.
I Ching Reading - 43 Kuai Breakthrough / Resoluteness
I consulted my favorite ancient oracle for guidance on the upcoming year. The resulting hexagram is Lake over Heaven for 43 Kuai / Breakthrough and Resoluteness. This reading arrives when a long-awaited change dissolves an extended period of difficulty and oppression. Sound familiar? The teaching here is to proceed with resoluteness and avoid giving in to the ego and pride. Don’t lapse and enjoy the upcoming “vacation,” instead push forward and set a good example to those around you. Great progress and good fortune are available to those who proceed with love, intention, and integrity.
